Green Salem Business Challenge

""Good for the Environment – Good for Salem – Good for your bottom line"

Welcome to the Green Salem Business Challenge!

Our goal is to support - you, our Salem businesses, in your efforts to reasonably and practically reduce your environmental footprint, adopt green best practices, and increase environmental awareness among employees, patrons, and the general public. Challenge yourself to: initiate green practices and measure and assess your current green status through the GSBC survey and Greater Shades of Green palette. For previous GSBC participants this is an opportunity to measure your progress!

Businesses of all types are encouraged to participate.

Why should my company participate?

  • Identify ways to make your business greener
  • Boost your bottom line
  • Receive great publicity – see our GSBC Participant Spotlight below
  • Demonstrate to customers, suppliers and employees that you are a green business
  • Differentiate yourself from your competitors
  • Demonstrate leadership in the community
AND the Green Salem Business Challenge provides educational and networking opportunities through events and workshops.

GSBC is a joint partnership of the City of Salem, Salem Chamber of Commerce, Salem Recycles, Salem Renewable Energy Task Force, and North Shore Transportation Management Association (TMA).

green your business is!

The Green Salem Business Challenge is hosting a series of workshops in 2012/2013 geared toward helping you learn more about ways to green your business.

A big DEEP GREEN thank you to all who attended the Deep Green, We Can Fix This movie screening in November at Cinema Salem and our recent event, Building Better Businesses with Green Practices: Resources, Tips, and Strategies with Rick Reibstein. There was a great turnout for both events with inspiring conversation and ideas shared about simple ways to lower our carbon footprint, make a difference in our communities, and save money to boot!

Our Green Salem community is growing. Keep your eye out for other GSBC activities and events by liking our Facebook page.

AND….SAVE THE DATE for our next GSBC Engagement Series Event:

“Green Genies” Is it Magic? How easy is it to go green?
A panel discussion of GSBC participants, Wednesday, April 10th from 8:30 am to 10:00 am at the Salem State University Enterprise Center.
