Why Join the North Shore TMA?

Environmental impact:
Are you a company or developer that is concerned about your environmental responsibility and reducing the impact of your carbon footprint?

Gas prices and commuter costs:
As gas prices rise, employers are being asked to step up and help their employees with the difficult challenge of affordable and safe commutes. According to the Association for Commuter Transportation, while gasoline prices have moderated after reaching their highest point in U.S. history, they are likely to continue fluctuating as the marketplace responds to ongoing supply and demand pressures. Joining the TMA helps with employee retention, saves on new employee search costs and demonstrates corporate environmentally responsibility.

Traffic congestion:
For municipalities, commercial and residential complexes businesses, and institutions, membership demonstrates environmental responsibility and a desire to address a city’s infrastructure, air quality and traffic and parking issues. The North Shore of Massachusetts is experiencing unprecedented commercial and residential growth. Commuting to/from and within the area presents both opportunities and challenges.

Because of its geographic location and its reliance historically on ship and rail transportation for goods and people, the North Shore is blessed with access to both of these modes of travel today. However, also because of its location, many of the major roadways that serve the area wind through neighborhoods. The opportunity to build new roads or widen existing roadways is constrained by this factor as well as cost.

To address this growth and the projected resulting traffic congestion, the North Shore TMA has been formed to support the development of collaborative transportation demand management (TDM) strategies that promote solutions to regional congestion and access.

Improving access to the North Shore region is a priority among municipal leaders, businesses, institutions, and residents. The North Shore TMA fulfills this priority by ensuring reliable and convenient access to your business for employees, visitors, and clients.

Our members enjoy the benefits of networking with fellow business and municipal leaders and being part of an organization that works to improve the ever-evolving North Shore region. All are committed to improving air-quality and mitigating congestion throughout the area.
